epa07692730 The wall delimiting the border between the US and Mexico stretches into the Pacific Ocean next to San Diego, California, USA, 02 July 2019 (03 July 2019). On the Mexican side people are enjoying the beach up to against the wall when on the US side there is strict delimitation of a no man's land on an empty beach. Located in the International Friendship Park, it used to be a binational where the gate between the two countries would open on Mexican holiday 'Children's day' (2013, 2015 and 16) during which children and adults from pre-selected families divided by the border are allowed to meet and embrace briefly. However, the new San Diego Border Patrol Sector chief Rodney Scott announced in April of 2018 that the door opening event would no longer be allowed to take place, the doors are then shut since November 2017.
