Sono 27.536 i migranti e rifugiati fermati nel mese di maggio dalle autorità in Turchia mentre cercavano di entrare nel Paese o di attraversarne le frontiere con l’Unione Europea senza regolari documenti.
Di questi, quasi il 10% (2.605) è stato intercettato in mare, in gran parte nell’Egeo mentre tentavano di raggiungere le isola greche. La maggioranza delle persone bloccate sono di nazionalità afghana, pachistana e siriana. Lo ha reso noto il ministero dell’Interno di Ankara, precisando che nello stesso periodo sono stati arrestati 561 sospetti trafficanti di esseri umani.
